Elyssa's Personal Statement
As a therapist, my hope is to provide something different for you than what you may have experienced in the past. If you are feeling unheard, unseen, or invalidated; I'll do my best to hear you, see you, and validate you. I hope to help you make sense of your inner world and experiences, to help you gain a sense of comfort with yourself.
I believe that people heal by coming to terms with emotions they've not been sure how to face. By reconciling with those feelings, you become empowered to make changes in your life. My therapeutic approach is derived from a psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, and humanistic lens, but I will match my approach to meet your unique needs.
I'll collaborate with you to determine what therapy goals are most important for you, and then help encourage you to keep growing and healing as you make progress toward those goals. I will honor your own natural pace, because I recognize how difficult it can be to be vulnerable with a therapist; especially as we work together to identify patterns that are no longer serving you or as we explore how your past may be impacting your present. I look forward to getting to know you!
