Format of Therapy

Therapy is a process that builds momentum over time, yielding broad change in relationships, personal effectiveness, and the experience of being alive.

The first session is an initial evaluation, in which I'll learn about your personality, history, and goals for therapy. After that, we'll set our weekly standing appointment. That's your time, and I'll be here for you each week to help you care for your emotional and spiritual well-being. Because this work takes commitment and dedication to achieve the best results, we are not currently accepting clients who wish to meet less frequently than once per week.

Each session lasts approximately 50 minutes, and costs $180 (sorry, no insurance.) If you have a PPO insurance and would like to seek reimbursement for the costs of therapy, I will be happy to submit claims for you on your behalf.

Call or email to set up an appointment

By working outside of the insurance system, we're able to focus on providing high availability and premium quality services for our clients.

For any questions, or to set up an appointment, call us at (562) 684-1300 or email help@psychlab.us. Our team can usually respond within an hour or two.

Personal Statement

I often work with people for whom therapy hasn't helped much in the past. I'm trained in many different techniques and approaches, and so I always want to custom-tailor the treatment to fit the personality style, strengths, and needs of the individual. I focus on addressing the root causes of the issue, not just the symptoms that have emerged as a result.

I’m especially passionate about helping trauma survivors. I have extensive experience in helping people to resolve the effects of early trauma, and have worked with combat veterans both within the VA system and in private practice. I’m experienced in the treatment of the mood disturbances, anxiety, PTSD, dissociative disorders, and relational problems which often result from trauma. I love helping people who feel chronically misunderstood — such as those with eccentric personalities, unusual styles of thinking, psychotic experiences, or Aspergers syndrome. Above all, I love working with people who are hungry for change and ready to take action to improve their lives. People who are fed up with feeling stuck and want to develop a more meaningful, fulfilling style of living.

I earned my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and my Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Adler University in Chicago, IL. My clinical training was very broad-based, taking place across a variety of settings — medical and psychiatric hospitals, Veterans Administration Medical Centers, residential and partial hospitalization programs for severe emotional disturbances, and specialty private practice focused on mind-body medicine and diagnostically complex cases. I have a special interest in clinical hypnosis, and have served in leadership roles in several national and international scientific societies and journals related to this topic.
