Looking for psychotherapy covered by Medicare Part B? You're in the right place! We specialize in helping seniors and Medicare recipients find balance, healing, and a greater sense of control. Whether you're adjusting to retirement, managing chronic conditions, or facing life changes, we're here to support you.
Please note:
At Psych Lab, we dive deeper to help you heal from the roots, not just the surface. Our attachment-based therapy model is scientifically proven to provide the strongest and most lasting results. To learn more, read: How therapy works at Psych Lab.
Since therapy has been shown to be most effective when scheduled at least once per week, we are only able to accept patients ready to commit to weekly meetings. While the length of therapy varies widely depending on your personality, needs, goals, and personal history, most people accomplish their goals and report lasting change after 10-18 months of continuous therapy.
Medicare Part B plans have an annual deductible ($257 in 2025), which is the amount you must pay out-of-pocket before your plan begins covering services. This deductible applies to your whole plan across all types of outpatient services — so if you pay the deductible at a physician's office, you won't have to pay it again when you see a therapist, and vice-versa.
Additionally, Medicare Part B requires a 20% coinsurance, meaning you are responsible for 20% of the cost of each session, while Medicare covers the remaining 80%. Some patients have secondary insurance or a Medigap policy that covers some or all of this coinsurance. Medicare coordinates these benefits for you. If you have a supplemental plan, we will only bill you for any portion not covered.
Under Medicare Part B regulations, marital therapy and family sessions are only covered when they are medically necessary to treat a diagnosed mental health condition. So if you are receiving individual therapy for a diagnosed condition and would like family or couples sessions to augment that treatment, then it will be covered under Medicare Part B. Otherwise, family therapy is an out-of-pocket expense.
Insurance does not cover the cost of missed appointments. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice or do not attend, you will be responsible for the full cost of the session.
